Text: Psalm 4
Theme: By trusting in the LORD, you receive peace.
There are many times when we just can’t get to rest and fall asleep. David experiences the same in Psalm 4 as he has many afflictions and calamities. Yet he teaches us that when you place your trust in the LORD, you will receive peace that surpasses all understanding.

Text: John 19:17-42, Heidelberg Catechism LD 15
Theme: In Christ’s suffering we receive a garment of righteousness.
Jesus Christ was crucified. He hung on the cross naked. Nakedness is a shameful thing. Nakedness is not kind or good – except His was. Because of His suffering and dying naked, we receive a garment of righteousness taking away our shame before God.

Text: Ezekiel 34:15-16 & Colossians 1:1-14
Theme: Shepherding the Flock: (v) How the Healthy and Strong Sheep are to be Guarded and Fed.
The LORD says that He Himself will be the Shepherd to His flock. In doing so He has five main things that He will accomplish. The fifth and last of these is to guard and feed the strong and healthy sheep. The LORD gives us an example of what a healthy church looks like in Paul’s prayer for the church at Colossae. Paul thanks God for some aspects already in place, yet asks Him to grant some others that should grow there.

Text: Ezekiel 34:15-16 & Ezekiel 1:1-3:3
Theme: Shepherding the Flock: (iv) How the Weak Sheep are to be Strengthened
The LORD says that He Himself will be the Shepherd to His flock. In doing so He has five main things that He will accomplish. The fourth of these is to strengthen the weak sheep. The wounded sheep are those who are part of the LORD’s sheepfold, but are weak in faith and love and all the strengths of the Christian life. The LORD shows us how He strengthens His weak sheep in His calling and equipping of Ezekiel.

Text: Luke 2, Acts 2, Heidelberg Catechism Lord’s Day 13

Calling Jesus Christ our LORD has many far reaching implications. Amongst those are that He is our owner and master; able to call on us for obedience and reverence. Yet He is a kind master that wishes us to serve Him for our own good.
